First, if this has been covered before, I apologize for the repeat, but I found nothing helpful in my searches. I use ACAD 2005, XP Pro, 2.4 GHz Pentium, only 512 RAM, and a new Matrox Parhelia 8X AGP 128-RAM. I got the card hoping for a fix, but to no avail. The problem is this... Completely independent of file size (2MB - 20MB), when I shade or orbit my drawing, a majority of the 3D blocks disappear, but the 3D solids remain, as does all 2D geometry. It's random in that I never know when it'll happen, but once it happens, I can switch between wireframe & shaded over & over again and it will repeat. The only thing that fixes it is Audit. It can happen again later in the day though, and not always the same blocks. Let me describe the project. We have 2 block libraries; one of enclosures & parts each sized 50k-150k, the other all ducting (duct, elbows, branches, etc.), almost all under 50k each. I personally believe Building Systems is the way to go, but I would be the only one, of over a dozen, who know how to use it. However, with close to 100 more sites to go, each with dozens or hundreds of said blocks in each, this problem is destroying productivity on every PC. Anyone know if doubling my RAM will solve this? Are there any settings in either display, or ACAD options that I should set? I've tried changing many, such as switching from hardware to software acceleration. Nothing works. ALL suggestions/help is greatly appreciated!!!

I had a similar problem with flat shaded model disappearing after starting the orbit command. I changed from hardware acceleration to software acceleration and it solved the problem.
