View Full Version : Elevation/Offset of wall-based generic model families

If I create a wall-based family with objects on a wall, it will automatically give me an elevation parameter when I load the family into the project, but it measures from the lowest point of the family geometry above the reference level.

If I create something like a shelf family, how would I make it reference the top surface of the shelf? I tried adding a dimension in the family, going from the reference level to the top surface of the shelf, and calling it Shelf Height. It flexes fine in the family, but when loaded into the project, that parameter does nothing. Only the default Elevation parameter will change the height of my shelf, regardless of what value the Height parameter is set to. Any thoughts?

Shelf family is attached if somebody needs to look at it.

Interesting, the reference plane at the level is missing in this family. See the attached, I added the reference plane back in and locked to the level. Then set the self height parameter from the top of the self to the new reference line. Now it works.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, so that would mean it's a problem with the template file (generic model wall-based)... interesting, since it's getting the template from my local installation of Revit 8.0.
