I would like to know if I can view objects in a shadow in a rendering of a 3d model.

Attached is a jpg of a rendering. There are no materials attached (see the word document for screenshots of light, rendering and graphics settings) I would like to see the objects that are currently blacked out in the shadow.

This post is an example of shadows in a 2d elevation that I am trying to recreate in 3D.

I have tried applying different material and changing the color and intensity of the light. The only thing that looks close is applying a glass material to part of the drawing. The shadow looks good but the object with the material attached to it is transparent.

Can this be done in AutoCAD?

Thanks.

Thanks. All of your light is coming from one source with a harsh shadow line. Try adding additional light sources that will softly illuminate the underside of the arches or bumping up the ambient light in relation to your "sun." Also, look into light reflection and try playing with making the stone ground a slightly reflective material.

BTW -nice model!

I did this in Photoshop. This is what I am aming for in AutoCAD.
I will try adding additional lights also.
