im having trouble figuring out what the application for these are. any pointers?

You use iParts to create families of parts which can be used in multiple drawings. You start by creating an Inventor part file (.ipt) and then convert it into an iPart. During the creation of the part you establish all possible versions of the design in a table.

This is very useful for creating fasteners, bearings, etc. You will probably find in your business that you have families of parts that are specific to your business that should be set up as iParts.

Also, you have the ability to add named imates to these parts, for quick and easy inertion into assemblies.
