I've noticed that ootb there's a wide variety of joists series, but no cooresponding joist girders. Do I need to create my own, or are they hidden somewhere.
Thanks

David,
I have not seen any....I think you have to make your own.

Thanks Tom,

That's what I was afraid of.

On another note, is there a way in import ADT structural member styles. ADT has all the bar joist and joist girders one could want.

David,

I need a joist girder for a project too.

I have access to ADT 2006, but didn't see any joist girders there. Can you tell me how to find them?

I think an ADT joist girder (maybe saved as 3D AutoCAD) could be inported into a Revit family template.

I just duplicated the joist family and adjusted the seat and the depth. Worked great. Just took me a while to figure it out.

You can get the ADT joist girder styles off of Adesk's website under the ADT, Downloads, styles, structural member styles. They have some nice truss styles as well.

I tried to import an ADT joist girder.

First, in ADT I set proxygraphics = 1.

Then I imported it into the structural template for trusses.

It seems to have come in as a flat 2-dimensional elevation.

What would I need to do to retain the 3-dimensional geometry?

I'll probably try modifying a Revit LH joist next.

Thanks.

Or you could simply share your joist girder family since you have one made and Revit does not.

I read on the Bim & Beam blog http://bimandbeam.typepad.com that there is additional families available to those with subscription. I believe this include the G / VG / BG joist girders.

I took a quick look at the Joist Girders families in the Subscriptions center. They are not perfect. They are missing vertical web members and the bottom chord extensions are not cutback from the column face. But its certainly better than creating them on your own. This is my $0.02.

Well I got ambitious and took a stab at a G series joist girder. I am working on the BG & VG and feel I am getting close. Should have them ready by tomorrow.

I have the only component made is a 28G5 joist girder I will admit it is not perfect but it is as close as I could come. All you should need to do to create additional profiles it to adjust the depth and the number of joist that will be bearing on the girder.

mwoods, that is great. Did you ever finish the others you were working on?

Hey all, I have the attached the VG and BG girders as well.

Here the deal if you have Revit Structure 2009 take a look at the girders included with it. They are identical to the ones I posted here a while back. It looks like someone at autodesk took what was on the AUGI forum to build there new families in 2009.
