What options are there to get revit geometry into VIZ? There is now way to import or link it directly from VIZ. What is the best course of action one could recommend?

Hi

Have you tried searching (http://forums.augi.com/search.php?) under the Revit (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93) forums, using something like the below search criteria...

Key Word(s): Import + *VIZ*

Have a good one, Mike

One of the new features of Viz 2006 is to ability to link Revit models that are exported from Revit as DWG or DXF files. There is a Revit Preset in the File Link Manager.

VIZ cannot directly import (or link) a native Revit project (RVT). You must first export a DWG or DXF file from Revit before you can “import” the model to Autodesk VIZ. The imported or linked file will contain scene objects that correspond directly to individual Revit objects. In addition, most materials are translated and assigned to the objects.

Thanks guys. That helped. One of the threads pointed out that you need to be in a 3D view in order to get 3d geometry in the dwg file. That was they key.
