Just a heads-up that there is a minor glitch with build 20040322_2136


I have confirmed that dimensions created in earlier versions of 6.1 are invisible when retrieved in 6.1 build 20040322_2136. Dimensions created in 6.0 and 5.1 appear to be OK. The invisible dimensions can be restored by box-selecting the entire view, filtering out everything except dimensions, and in Properties setting the Visible property.

Until we know more, I recommend that you not install 6.1 build 20040322_2136 if you already did much work in an earlier build of 6.1.

If you're happy to live with that ( as I am ) then by all means install that build. It really depends how much was done with dimensions in 6.1.

I guess its proof of that old programmer's adage for complex software " for every one thing fixed, three are broken .. "

Ahhh, progress. But, ya know, they still haven't figured out how to keep pencils from breaking. But the abacus. The abacus is a thing of beauty. Except that clicking, that constant clicking driving me...well, I've been up too late.

installed yesterday due to crashes when saving to central with worksets. apparently a bug that was fixed as i was told by revit support.

The latest build on the web (20040420) improves the situation substantially. In the latest build, dimensions will appear as outlined below:
[list:a62c5b8585]5.1 (and earlier) - Dimensions created in 5.1 will appear as desired and will have the "Visible" property available to them

6.0 upgraded files - All Dimensions created in 6.0 in an upgraded file (created in 5.1 or earlier) will be visible - you will need to manually delete the dimension you do not want to appear as the "Visible" parameter is not available for these dimensions. Be aware that the constraints a dimension may have been created to maintain can be maintained even after the dimension is deleted.

6.0 native files - All Dimensions created in 6.0 in a "6.0 native" file (created in 6.0) which as not been opened and saved in earlier releases of 6.1 will appear as desired and will have the "Visible" property available to them.

6.1 - Dimensions created in early builds of 6.1 will all appear. The "Visible" parameter was never available for these dimensions, so this is not on issue for these dimensions.
[/list:u:a62c5b8585]In summary: All dimensions will appear as you would expect them to except upgraded files with dimensions created in 6.0, had their "Visible" parameter unchecked and were opened and saved in earlier builds of 6.1. These dimensions will again become visible and will need to be deleted in the latest build.
