Worksets and Groups

Is it possible to have different worksets within a group? For example, I'm doing a dormitory building and want to show furniture layouts and I've created a furniture workset. I've also created groups for each type of unit within the building. The groups are an Interior workset. When I try to add furniture to the unit groups, the workset changes. Am I doing this wrong or do I need to create furniture groups?

A group will all be in one workset. We do the same thing - just group the furniture as a separate group.
