Good morning,

I occasionaly use 3ds Max (Release 6) and have been trying to deal with an ongoing problem. My gizmos (I think that is what they are called) no longer appear on the screen when I try to manipulate objects. This has become an issue when trying to place ojects (trees, etc) into my model as it is very difficult to move them into place. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Look in the preferences - I forget which tab exactly, but it's in there.

Press X...

That should do the trick. X is the default switch, but if it doesn't work, go to the Customise Menu > Customise User Interface.

Under the keyboard tab, scroll down to Transform Gizmo Toggle. You can then assign a key to it on the right hand side of the dialogue.

I got it to work. I must have done something crazy at some point to mess it up though. Pressing "X" didn't work by itself, I also had to go into the view menu and select "show gizmos" or something along those lines. Thanks for the help.
