Hellow fellow Cad users,

I have spent quite a lot of time creating a Dynamic Block of a window only to find out that I've named the inital block incorrectly.
Is there a way to rename a DB without loosing all the work I've put into it?

Thank you,
Roland

will the RENAME command work on Dblocks?yes it will. you can also perform a 'save as' right from the Block Editor.

yes it will. you can also perform a 'save as' right from the Block Editor.well, if you do the saveas... you'd be creating an identical block definition but with a new name... still leaving all of your insertions of the block with the old name, though, right?

Thank you both for all your help.
I must have done something wrong the first time I tried to change a blocks name because I lost all the dynamisity ( like that word) I put into it.

This was a life saver.

Thank you again,
Roland

i do a "save as". I rename the block and then I'm back in the drawing. I insert the new block to make sure it works like it's supposed to, then I delete and purge the "old block" from existence if everything is OK. I like doing it this way because if, for some reason, the new version does something uncool, you haven't gotten rid of the original block (just in case is my motto).

Anyone try changing a dynamic block's INSUNITS setting?

After finally tracking down the issues I was having with INSUNITS, I discovered one of my DBs was defined with "Inches" as its INSUNITS setting. That's not what I wanted.

Changing the underlying block to "Feet" or "Unitless" seems to break the DB-ishness.

yes'm

Long thread made short, no one has discovered WHY a DB temporarily loses its DBness.

If anyone thinks they know why, please post your ideas, please.
