View Full Version : Materials assigned to 3D Model do not Insert when Model is used as a Block

Hello, I am going to get my M.S. in Architecture this Fall but right now I am teaching a 3D Modeling class in Architectural Technology right now for this semester. I have tried trouble shooting and I just cant fix this problem , if anyone know anything I can try I would really appreciate it. The problem is I am telling them to model a chair for example in a normal drawing, then attach materials under rmat and material lib, but then I am trying to block the drawing by inserting the chair into another drawing by going up to the bar under insert and block. But when I do this it will block it but the materials I assigned to it just will not come with it, what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=119) forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Are you 100% the Material attached to the Block ( Chair ) are not present with the Block once it has been Inserted... ie What happens if you use the _.Render command after Inserting the Block ?
How are you actually attaching the Materials to the Objects that make up the Block ( Chair ) ?
Is it possible to post an example of the Chair with Materials attached ?
Have a good one, Mike

Actually yes that is what is confusing me, I insert the chair from another drawing and the materials do appear to come with it but when I render it is always shows up global ? At this point I am stumped , I will try to show you an example but any further suggestion that would be great , thanks again

What version of AutoCAD are you using ?
When you use the _.Render command on the drawing file containing the Block ( Chair ), which "Rendering Type" option ( Render / Photo Real / Photo Raytrace ) do you select ?

What happens if you save the entire file to a different drawing name then erase & purge everything except the chair?
