I am a new user and we are trying to see what Structure can do.
I have a portion of an entrance to a hosp. in 3D that I want to check for a connection.
I need to get a 4" round pipe to go from the front face of the base of the column @ one level to a point 17.532' up and 12.67' out to conn. w/ W10 at an angle 2 degrees from the col. .
Tried to get a brace to work, but can't get a line to attach to both points and at the right angle.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, but now rotate the brace. The W10 is located 2 degrees away from the column.
This is basically an ornamental piece of steel, one each side of a column at a front entrance. This 4" round pipe is on an angle in two directions.

Here is the brace setup. Open the file and see how I did it. I used a referance plane for the beam.

Hey Erik,

Nicely done, that was the same approach I took for mine. Did you understand his reply though? I haven't had time to come back to it (and still don't :) ) but it sounds like the W10 gets rotated 2 degrees in plan view as well (or maybe just in plan view and not in elevation)? I'm thinking it'd be the same approach anyway, just haven't tried it....

Just add referance planes where you want the beam, brace or column to go and draw the members on the correct referance plane. If the members are rotated along the axis, you can just change the rotation perameter under properties. I realized I didn't model it exactly how he wanted but it gives the gereral idea how to do it. You could modify what I have done to match his exactly. I hope that helps.
