View Full Version : Easy way to hide columns in schedule?

We're using a Graphical Column schedule, but there are a few columns which we don't want to show. My initial thoughts were to place those columns in a Selection, and then use Visibility/Graphics (VG) to filter them out.

It would appear that VG doesn't mean much on a column schedule. Any other ideas?

Under the Format tab of the schedule properties (at least I think that's the right one) there's an option to hide columns for each entry...

Mmm..... I think you misunderstand. We are creating a Graphical Column Schedule in Revit Structure 3. Its nearly identical to the column schedule that you see on structural drawings, showing levels and a pictoral representation of each column or groups of columns.

We have some Structural Columns which do not belong in the Graphical Column Schedule and would like to remove them.

An alterative options come to mind...

you could try and "filter" them out, if the offending columns are of a certain type, you can setup schedule properties to exclude them in the schedule.

There is one way to exclude columns from a graphical column schedule:

In the Graphical Column Schedule Properties, under Other, you can specify a Column Locations "Start" and "end". Columns that do not fall into that group will be excluded..

I have used phasing to manipulate the columns on the schedule.

Do watch out for effects on your other views though....I was lucky that project didn't need phasing as such, so I could set all other views' phasing filters to 'none'.

Thank you all -

This is what I was refering to in my original post. However, while I believe this works for a traditional schedule, graphical column schedules do not have an explicit option. I attempted to use the "Filters" tab under VG. Is there another way I'm missing?

In the Graphical Column Schedule Properties, under Other, you can specify a Column Locations "Start" and "end". Columns that do not fall into that group will be excluded..

I don't believe that would work in this case. The columns we do not want in the schedule are C-2, C-3, C-4, and C-5. To exclude them with this method, I believe I would need to display column locations starting at A-1 and ending at C-1; and starting at C-6 with no end.

And had there been multiple groups of columns we wanted to exclude, I don't see how this method could work at all.

This seems to be a usable work around. I suppose I could also create a new material type for the columns I want to exclude and simply uncheck that box in properties. Its a shame I can't simply use filters to exclude columns.

Thanks!
