Hey all

I know that this topic title may cause a huge thread, but what's a guy suppose to do.

I am new to 2006 and have been reading some of the post on CUIs and workspaces.

I understand that the CUI takes over from the MNS files of old, but the whole MAIN.cui (acad.cui) enterprise thing has me worried.

So far I have done the basics and have run into problem after problem

I created a new profile, then loaded all the old menu files in to the profile, they come in as Partial CUIs which I display all tool bars and menus in the AutoCAD Default workspace.

Then I saved the profile and when I import it for a new user. It crashes AutoCAD with a Access violation error.

If I relaunch AutoCAD the new profile is in the list, I set it to current and the toolbars show up.

I have notice that in the arg file the wscurrent variable is set to AutoCAD default in the registry it is blank and in AutoCAD it is blank. Could this cause the access violation error?

This has caused a lot of grief so I am not sure if it is the way I am creating the profile and workspace or saving the files (MAIN.CUI / Profile / Workspace)?

More questions...sorry

Should I create a custom cui load all the office menus into it then make that my main cui and change the Acad.cui to be the partial. If I do this will the same problem happen with importing the profile?

If it does work should I make one the enterprise and one the main if so which one and does this mean that I have to copy the acad.cui to the network, because it will point to my acad.cui on my hard drive.

I realize this is a lot of questions, but I am getting very frustrated

Thanks for any help

Derrick

P.S. I have also posted this on Autodesk Discussion form so forgive me I have not read all posts on this forum.
