I recently tried to download some files from a window manufacturer site. They had links from within their Adobe product manual, BUT, their links didn't work properly- in part, perhaps, because the machine I was working on had a corruped VoloView(er) . However, when I moused over the links I could see the link was pointing to a DWG file in the helpstring. By right clicking on the hyperlink, I was able to COPY LINK LOCATION into my windows clipboard...Go to the Open File dialog in AutoCAD...paste in the "http://www...." link location into the file field and PRESTO, opened the DWG file right off the HTTP server half way across the world.
Try it- it works! : )

I have a network wide ban on FTP web sites, and can't download I-Drop data from Design Centre.... :-(
However now, thanks to this wonderful tip, all I have to do is right click, and access the "XML source", and take a note of the web address of the drawing, remembering to substitute the FTP, with HTTP.
In AutoCAD in the open dialogue just paste in the web address, and voila. Thanks allot R.G. for solving this headache for me.
