Limit to Surface Edits

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of surface edits that are allowed in civil 3D?

It has been my experience that you can edit a surface as many time as needed. The number of surfaces that you can paste together is limited see the following thread. (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=5256&highlight=paste+surfaces)
