I am trying to delete an imported (unlinked) CAD plan which shows up in visibility graphics under imported plans, but does not appear in any views. I've tried "purge unused" which did not find it. Is there any place within Revit that allows one to search and destroy imported CAD plans?
Thanks,
Stephan

Sorry but, You have to open every single view and select all and then look at the filter to find it.

Imported files that are not LINKED are not "visible" anywhere except in the view(s) they are in unfortunately. For this reason I seldom ever fail to LINK an import. If I do, I plan to delete it in the next five minutes
I'd like to see all imported files listed in the project browser under a heading of Imported Data (I don't really care about the name, just that we have it) To my mind, dwg, dgn, jpg, bmp, dxf, sat...whathaveyou should be listed there. File > Manage Links could retire to Bermuda favoring right click options in the browser. File > Raster Images could go the way of the dodo bird since it really doesn't bring much to the table.

Completely agree, there should definately be in-place a way to manage imported information. It goes against the concept of BIM whereby information in this case is being trapped within the project.

You might want to take a look at Ideate Explorer, a tool I helped develop to explore the Revit model:

It's quite useful for finding hidden elements - see the video "Finding Hidden DWGs":

Glad to see that Ben has replied to this post with the application that he worked on for Ideate. I've used this tool many times and like it a lot. Now I anxiously await the 64-bit compiled version.

Thanks Brian, glad to hear Ideate Explorer is working for you. A 64-bit version is in the works!
I've heard the frustration of finding hidden dwg from many of our clients. I'm considering having a hardwired "hidden dwg" view in the 2010 version of Ideate Explorer.

Does Ideate Explorer help differentiate between model lines and detail lines of the same name?

David, the Ideate Explorer WILL query and identify Model Lines vs. Detail Lines (see attached image). This is a GREAT tool, and has aided me numerous times. If you thought that seeing the number of category elements through your Filter tool was helpful, this tool will blow you away!
