STC vs. "Relinquish and Save"

What is the difference??
Relinquish and Save is faster than Save to Central. They both seem to do the same thing. :?:

Pretty sure it's just a Local save... you'll still need to STC to get your work in the file for others to see.

I'm a little late to the game here, but...

Relinquish All Mine simply releases any elements that you have claimed control over (borrowed)
Save saves your Local Copy (Save does not Relinquish by itself)
STC Relinquishes your Elements, publishes your changes to the Central File, pulls any changes other have saved to the Central file, and coordinates your changes with changes others have made.

The STC icon does NOT do a local Save. If you use the menu File...Save to Central, you have an option to save your local copy
