Allow selection of parts of an XREF without selecting the whole XREF for schedules

I would like to be able to select some windows and doors but not all windows and doors within an XREF to create a schedule table. It would help automate some material takeoffs that require selecting some doors and windows, but not others.

You could use Classification for this issue. This would be a quick approach:

Create a Classification Style called "Costing"
'Apply it' to Doors and Windows.
Create a Definition called "Scheduled"

Copy this Style to ALL dwg's where the Schedule Table is and the Doors/Windows are.

For the doors and windows you want scheduled for costing, set the 'Schedule' Classification for them.

Edit your Schedule Table to ONLY include the 'Scheduled' definition.
