A little while ago, I posted something in the Civil 3D section about sharing files and checking data in and out of drawings so multiple users can work on the same drawing at the same time. Well, one of my co-workers found this tool on the AutoCAD Civil 3D install disks, and we were wondering if anyone has used it before. I didn't even know it existsed, but it is it easier than switching from 2006 to 2007 to use Vault 5, or staying as 2006 for right now and use this Administration tool?

Hi "aclink" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=119) forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here.

Thanks, Mike

The project administration tool allows you to do things like revert to previous versions of a surface. Cancel checkout's, lock objects etc. In civil 3D if a user had locked a project surface only they could unlock. Unless you use the admin tool. Vault can be managed it isnt the end of the world.

Oh I know, it's not that Vault is difficult to use (which it can be at times), it's just that we haven't used an Administration Tool of any kind before. Mainly, we were looking for ways to increase productivity here in the office, and I was investigating a number of mentioned possibilities, Vaule and Admin. Tool included.
