View Full Version : Dynamic Block Stair, array does not work when I stretch

I have a dynamic stair block which has a look up for the flight width and a look up for the tread depth. What I'm having a problem with is trying to get an array to work for when I stretch out the stair flight. When you add an array action it prompts you to enter an array distance between the objects. In this instance this is variable depending on which tread depth is selected. Is there a way of linking the selection from the look up table with the array distance?
If I take the lookup for the tread depth out and set it as a fixed distance I can make the block work fine and it stretches out perfectly adding treads as it goes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Spike.

Like Chris said, we've got it covered. Check it out, man. I think you'll like the way it was done. Kudos to Chris for originating the idea. I only tweaked it a bit.

Yep, already seen it - works great. What I was hoping to do was take it one stage further and have the ability to select a tread depth as well, but wasn't sure how to make an array action work when the array distance was variable depending on the item selected from a look up. Not even sure if it is possible. Any ideas?

OK, OK...........I'll get my coat.
Spot on, just what I was looking for - nice job guys!
Just as an aside, you boys want to get out once in a while, go drink some beer, find a girl, that sort of thing. It's becoming very clear that you're spending far too much time sat in front of your pc, obsessing over D.B's.....ha,ha.
Thanks for help.

What's a girl? ;)
(just kidding. I'm married with a kid and I do this during my lunch hours and sometimes for fun when video games and basketball and movies no longer do it for me)
