View Full Version : Need Help with Mid 2 Point
2004-06-10, 01:09 PM
When I try to use the new osnap of Mid 2 Point, it does not give me a mid point. It uses the last point as the start point of a line. I would like to be able to use this, but no matter what I try it does not work.

I don't know exactly how it works in 2005, but in mechanical, it asks for the 2 end points, and then asks for the line division, which defaults to .5
Is it asking you for the line division, and if so, is it set to .5?

Check out the following Tip on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -
ID: TP00125 - Using the new M2P to get the Mid Between 2 Points (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=4247010&linkID=2475176)

I have been to the knowledge base and followed exactly what was there. As soon as I pick the second point to establish the two points for the midpoint, AutoCad takes it as the first point of a line.
Specify first point: _m2p
First point of mid: end of
Second point of mid: int of ,,,at this point the line command is started.
Specify next point or [Undo]:

Glenn you're up ;)
When you use _m2p do you have any running OSnaps set?
If yes (especially if EndPoint is one of them), try using _m2p with no running OSnaps (OsMode = 0 or > 16384) and see what happens.

I have had no problem with Mid 2 Point. I generally always running osnaps. On or off, makes no difference. It's worked great.
I did have problems like this when I was using 'CAL (CUR+CUR)/2 to find the midpoint between to points.
Sorry I can't be of any more help. But this has me stumped.

I have tried it with running osnap, single osnap, and no osnap (just picked two points in the middle of nowhere. No matter what AutoCad uses the second pick as the point to start. It sure is frustrating, we used to have a lisp routine to do this, but that was for a Uniz system and it had been compiled so we could not adapt it to the Windows.
Thanks for your advice and I will keep on trying to find a solution.

Are you possibly snapping to a grid point? Do you have Snaps off?

I just did a repair on my installation and now the midpoint snap works!! I love it.
Thanks for the help and keep on drafting.
