Please can anyone tell me what the symbol in the attachment is trying to depict?

Jim,
Can you provide a little more detail on this. What type of drawing is it on? Who added the symbol etc. Otherwise I'm at a loss.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a symbol for an exhaust vent or supply, showing the opening the the trunk line below the floor as a single line diagram. But that's just a guess.

Now I would say that that looks like a light fitting (luminaire) with an earth lead.
Need more context to sort out what it is really.

I could buy into that. Light fixture that shows the run to the grounding rod placement outside the buidling.

A man with a square umbrella planning his route across a busy road?
Absolutely no idea without further info, although as per the above two posts it does appear to be some sort of services symbol, light fittings, exttract/intake vent, plumbing valves etc etc.
What sort of drawing does it appear on.
