ACAD 2004

I have some drafters who have complained about the default drawing that opens when AutoCAD is started and the cancel button is clicked at the "Startup" dialog box. A new file named "Drawing1.dwg" is created.

First complaint: even though I haven't made any changes, if I choose to close the drawing I still get a dialog box asking me if I want to save the changes. Is there a fix for this ... it didn't happen ths way in 2000i.

Second complaint: many of my drafters don't want to have any drawing open if they hit cancel at the "Startup" dialog box. I'm not sure why, but that's what they want. Is there a way to force AutoCAD to not open or create a drawing at startup when the cancel button is clicked in the startup dialog box?

Thank you,
Blake Thomas

In addition to Mike's tip:
1. Rather than click on cancel to open a dwg, click on the open dwg button in the dialog. It has a folder icon.
2. The dwg requres saving because you probably have some customizations to the startup procedure that modify a variable that gets saved in the dwg...or something else like that. OOTB, acad does not modify a dwg to require saving.

Suggestion for #2. Modify your template instead.
