Obtaining software licenses for home use from license manager

I have 22 valid licenses on my license manager server.

A couple of people work from home on their own PCs.

Is there a way to have their home PC check the license manager for authorization such that they only possess the license while they are working?

I know that I can do some sort of 'check out' feature - but even that seems to require that the computer first be directly connected to the network.
