View Full Version : How do I delete a rogue Cad file?

Is there a command to delete a background cad file without selecting it in the model? I have a cad plan that has disappeared in all of my Revit views but still exists in the Visibility Graphics dialogue. All I want to do is right click the file and delete it in Visibility Graphics... is there a way I can get rid of it other than selecting it in the model? It is not linked so it does not appear under the linked files manager.

Thanks for your help!

The file is gone. However the additional subcategories created by the levels of the cad file will remain. There is currently no way to clean them out, at least Autodesk has yet to share it with us. They've told us in the past to copy paste the model if it isn't too large.....

Someone may have another trick, wait and see.... :)

What you need to do is open the 'Object Styles' dialog. Here you can select the sub-category and delete it as necessary. See attached

Thanks Simon,

I deleted all of the layers under the Cad file, but the main heading still exists... is there a way to get rid of the original Cad name?

I posted the same problem last week, I don't think I've seen a solution yet. :(

I'm in the same boat ..

I've got these rogue files causing dischord in my drawing .
the general populous is not pleased with them being in the drawiing . they've been deleted in cases where i've been able to find them in the view . I've purged all unused files and they still show up in the VG dialogues .

i want to purge the file back to the stone ages ( or paper and pencil age ! )

Have you read this thread? Delete CAD Import (http://www.forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=66105)

Scott Womack had an interesting answer.
