ISSUE #1:
I'm getting a crash during printing of a sheet containing a view with a linked dwg. I can print to HP5si Laser but not 1055CM. Spooler dies too. I can't print that sheet to a file using the 1055CM driver either. Revit crashes. I have to print to PDF.
ISSUE #2:
Printing a sheet with a Drawing List view should be easy right? Well look at the attached picture. I get a drunken drawing list. This should not happen.
I WANT PRINTING TO WORK EVERY TIME!!!! I hate having to chase down the crashes here, and the bad plots there... It is not fair.

Please Scott, explain to me why I need to do this? Why can't I just hit the print button. Why does raster print TEXT better than vector? Why can't text print just fine using both?

Wish I could tell you why, but I have no idea. Printing has always frustrated me in the AutoCAD days, and now occasionally in the Revit days. I'm glad I don't have Page Setups, PCPs, CTBs, STBs, PC3s, etc any longer to deal with!

Yeah, but, when you got all of those working, AutoCAD didn't crash the print server! I would gladly take a little time in the beginning to set up something that won't crash during deadlines!

Yes, I have to admit I still believe AutoCAD's printing options are much better than Revits. Now I like the way Revit handles "what you see is what you get", yet when it comes to printing a window, etc. AutoCAD deals with printing much better.
Are you printing directly to your printer or processing it in your computer? I'm wondering if perhaps this is a memory issue..... (these types of problems are almost always driver or memory related...)

Good question.
I did go through the whole gammit of "in-computer" and to the spooler. All the same stuff. Here's a snippit from my support request:
I have personally filed a number of requests with the Revit Developers to address some vector vs raster issues in the past... If I can get the same issue to reproduce here I may be able to file a defect report, than just a wish.
There is work being done on this lovely issue....

I've been having tons of printing crashes in 9.1, alot of them seem to be related to dwg's also

I did try this after the last time i heard it mentioned, and it didnt solve our issue with plotting to PDF with the Revit PDF writer 4.2. Our text was still walking off the page.
Not a huge deal, we just still cant batch plot PDF's... :(

...Not a huge deal...
Of course it's a huge deal! If the program allows batch plotting, then it should work.
<here goes another rant>
I am more upset at this than most everything else. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET THE INFO OUT OF THE BOX!!! We can't send computers to all of our clients and villages so that they can view our set of drawings! We need to be able to hit the print button with the utmost confidence! Deadlines are looming and it's hard enough training the masses at our office on the inner workings of Revit. I cannot spend my valuable time teaching people.. "Oh, you're trying to print that sheet? Well you have to print to PDF.... Oh, you're trying to print that sheet? Well you can't. Even though the program allows you to arrange items this way, it won't let you print them. Sorry, Mr. Boss man, we can't get these 3 sheets to print. I know we should have had these to the repro house an hour ago....
<okay, I'm done for now>

LOL, no, im with you... But we can print, and we can print to PDF. It would be insanely nice if we could batch plot to PDF, but if we cant, its not the end of the world. As much as id love to see it fixed, if its that or other more important things, ill take other things and just plan on plotting to PDF taking an hour and a half, LOL...

Oh, and I forgot the most important one...
"You say you can't print from Word or Excel or anything? Sorry but Revit took down the entire printing system."

I find that batch plotting to PDFs, DWFs, or even just plotting for a set, takes much more time than printing each one individually. Anyone else notice this or am I just crazy?? :shock:
