I just got an email saying ABS 2007.1 was shipping.

Anyone know what is different with this release?

Our company has not installed 2007 of any CAD program, still using 2006.

Any chance this may allow drawings opened in 2007 to be opened in earlier versions without any problems?

Ryan,

I downloaded and installed SP1 and still am dealing with the file format issues between ABS2007 and earlier releases. From what I understand that's just going to be the cost of "progress".

Does anyone know the difference between ABS 2007 with sp1 and
release ABS 2007.1 which is coming out soon?

Here's what the Autodesk website discussion group has to say:

It sounds like it's ABS 2007 + SP1 + extra stuff. They aren't really saying what the extra stuff is yet.

My bad.

I thought ABS2007.1 and ABS2007 with SP1 installed were the same thing.

Since I'm in the electrical field I guess I'll need to install ABS2007.1 when it's released.

Here's a link to a document I found that shows the ABS2007.1 enhancements

Please note I have moved this thread to the ABS 2007 forum.

In addition, I would only go with 2007.1 if you are on subscription or have avoided upgrading to 2007 from a previous release. It's pretty new so even I haven't had a chance to see what the deal is to go from 2007 format down to earlier versions.

I just recently finished ABS training with Tony Tedder. He had 2007.1 installed, while we used 2007, for training and I can tell you that most of the upgrade was in the Electrical part of the program. The tool palllettes have changed in appearance a little and the program seemed more stable to me. Hope this helps.

We have started working in ABS 2007.1 in our Contract CAD Division. We are experiencing major problems with clients that are still in ABS 2006. All blocks show up as a proxy bounding box. Proxyshow is set correctly and we tried saving down to 2004 format. We had to use the convert to Autocad command to get there work to them. luckily it was just Demo. If anyone knows a fix, please let me know.

They either need to download the object enabler to view the proxy graphics or work with flat lines on an export to 2004 format.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I've looked for an enabler to fix this, but was not successful. Do have a specific name or link where I could grab and go? I appreciate your time.

If he is speaking of the OE's that I think he is, I have the Autodesk links on my website under the "November 14, 2006 Object Enabler" post. Here's my website: http://abbie-abs.blogspot.com/

Ah! But those are the ABS 2007 links on my site...I'm not sure if they have an ABS 2007.1 out there. Maybe that'll get you on the right path though.

Good luck!

The OE's ameador link to allow other 2007 based programs to view ABS/ADT objects.

From what I understand, Autodesk will not/can not release OE's that allow earlier versions to read 2007 objects. I'll try to find the link where I got this information but from what I understand Autodesk doesn't make OE's to convert from one file format to another.
