Summary: Have intelligent drawing views that would know the limits of the drawing sheets and adjust the scale automatically

Description: The current practice of extracting idw 2D drawing from a parametric 3D model assembly is interactive and works well for the first generated drawing. The subsequent change in the set of model driving parameters lead to enlarging or shrinking of the assembly & subsequent change in the viewports of IDW like viewport extending beyond sheet, dimensions & view ports overriding, section lines going out of place etc., . This necessitates manual clean up like scale factor adjusting etc., Our wish is to have a constant viewport area which can select the scalefactor automatically or some sort of intellingence can be built to prevent viewport extending beyond sheet, dimensions & view ports overriding, section lines going out of place etc. Moreover our drawing management system mandates the need of drawings in Autocad format. This lead us to convert from IDW to DWG leading to loss of data.

How Used: Our ultimate aim is to automate some of our drawing generating practices. We want to use the state of the art technology 2D drawing extraction from parametric 3D solid models to sweep the inherent advantages like product visualization, interference checking, encapsulating our design practices etc., We have made sufficient attempts to automate our drawing generation practices via this method. Though we were quite successful till the automation of 3D parametric model generation, we were not able to succeed in the automation of 2D drawing generation from the 3D parametric models because of the above said reasons. A sort of intelligence preventing viewport extending beyond sheet, dimensions & view ports overriding, section lines going out of place etc will be very useful and can help us in achieving our aim of automation of 2D drawings. Similarly, it will be really helpful if it is possible to extract the drawings straight away in dwg.
