This is something I have just discovered.. but if you are going to use a familiy to load into another and "paramaterize" some of the settings DONT make any of the parameters instance paramaters in the family you are loading - it will make things behave very badly.......
Yet another reason that Autodesk should create a new family especailly for things that are going to be loaded into other families - a wishlist item of old from me!!
