Family Master Template!

(1) Is there a way to find out by looking at a family as to what template was used to create a new one?

(2) Is there a such thing like master template from which all other derives?

Settings, Family Category and Parameters...this will tell you what family type you're in. Unfortunately it is not always an indication as to what the original template was since you can sometimes switch categories within the family from here.
