I have trouble inserting a block of school classroom furniture. When I open the furniture drawing, all is as it should be, with the proper arrangement, layout, and desks. However, when I insert the block into my draiwng, the desks are slammed up against the back wall. There is no distortion to indicate a problem with the x-scale. Also, the desks in the inserted block do not appear to be the same desks in the furniture file. I have deleted the block entirely, purged the drawing file, and even w-blocked the file. What else can I do?

I am using ADT 2004.

sounds like an issue between the UCS of these two drawings
one of them doesn't know which way is up!
verify that both are at plan view in the world coordinate system
also before inserting it as a block, try xref it in and see where it falls

Thanks, but I eventually found the problem. The furniture block contains a nested block, "desk". There was a different "desk" inserted into the model file, which had a different insertion point. Although the model file had been purged several times, this rogue "desk" would not go away. I finally inserted the current "desk", redefining the existing block in the model, and that did the trick.
