How about ABS configurations that can take into account the changes made by the architect to his display configurations, and then screen back the AEC entities while incorporating those changes.

As an example, an architect imposed a color BYMATERIAL on a concrete wall. Showed up great with his display config, but disappeared with the ABS display config. And then I have to explain why my background doesn't match the architect's drawing.

Great idea.

To expand on your idea. It would be useful when receiving drawings from others if a report could be generated stating what display configuration(s) were used to create the drawings.

There was an ATP course that delt with this issue. I'll see if I can find it.
Try Here (http://www.augi.com/education/archive.asp?page=293) and look for ATP100. It's a workaround, but it may give you some insight on how to make your life a little easier. Enjoy
