I've contacted the company that makes power laptops for users who want performance over battery life. This company is based in a suburban area and has no overhead, and they build CAD workstations for their clients.
They would be willing to talk to people who are interested in getting a very good deal on a laptop that has desktop performance. They use desktop processors and name-brand components to make the fastest laptop I've ever seen. (I haven't seen the Alienware laptop in action, but the specs are the same, but Alienware's price is a lot higher). Battery life for these laptops is lower, but if you want performance, this is the beast.
