View Full Version : Revit Systems & Bentley Architecture - Process Issue

Situation:
Building design is being done using Bentley Architecture. Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical systems are being done by a firm using Revit Systems.
Obviously this interaction is going to involve the exchange of DGN/DWG files. Is there a "best practices" white paper out there? I'd imagine this is or will be a common occurance; any pitfalls or red flags to watch out for?
THANKS!

Any white papers on this process will be referring to dwg files and Microstation output will need to go there first unless IFC support matches versioning. Microstation will need to generate dwg solids.
They may not be the first to try this, but probably right "up there"!

Brittany,
Have you had any luck with this. Our firm is in the same situation and we are looking at IFC as the common link. I'm currently looking to see if anyone has generated an IFC setting file that "maps" REVIT & MicroStation as seemlessly as possible.
I'm curious to hear how you doing with whole process - drop me a line if you get the chance.

tonori,
I have recently finished a project doing the MEP in Revit MEP 08 on a Lab where the arch was done in bently convered to cad, which i didnt find out until after the project was complete. let me tell you i had problem after problem and maybe it was because it was my 1st project in Revit. but i couldnt host anything (ie doors) and the 3d view would dissapear when i tried to revolve. what i ended up doing was having to draw the model with the orginal cad underlayed and then export my model to cad itself and then import the cad dwg of my model back into Revit and redraw the entire thing. Talk about a waste of time. Luckily im a quick learn haha.
