We're about to start a benchmark for new elektrical software. Through external engineeringscompagnies we get a lot of E-plan drawings delivered. But as all our other cad software is Autodesk based - we also would like to check out autocad elektrical.
So therefore my post - what are the mayor pro's and cons of both applications and does anyone have experience of converting proE data to autocad elektrical.
Is it überhaupt possible to get E-plan drawings into elektrical and how much intelligence got lost?

I have not used ProE, yet there is a conversion tool. See jpeg attached.

My recommendation would be to review the AutoCAD Electrical for a month, trial version to see if your company would benefit. We use to just use homemade lisp routines. AutoCAD Electrical is much, much better. It helps keep all things consistent and streamline.

It is always helpful to keep all the cad software with one base. If you talk your AutoCAD Provider, they could answer some of your questions. If you go to Autodesk’s website, they have an overview document. The link below is for USA, may need to look up your country.

Have you talked to an Autodesk Authorized Reseller?

no not yet - before that i wanted to have some preluminary information - so yes AUGI is my first line of defence :-)

AUGI is a great resource and I too look to this for information.

I am looking into becoming an AutoCAD Electrical guru. I really like the software. I look forward to answering questions. Sometimes I know and other times, I too need help. There is another area to look for answers and that would be the Autodesk Manufacturing Community (http://mfgcommunity.autodesk.com/) website under Discussions (http://mfgcommunity.autodesk.com/discussions/) tab.
