I found a registry hack for windows that lets you clear out and add different folders to the left side of the open or save dialog box. It works for other programs but not 2000i. Anybody know how to customize that area in acad.

No need to hack AutoCAD, see the attached image. If you browse to the location you want to create a one click shortcut to, you can look in the tools pulldown and select the "Add current folder to places", the "places" the option refers to is the left side of the open dialog. Hope this is what you're looking for.

There is no "add current folder to places", I just have "add to favorites" but what i want is to be able to get rid of the junk shortcuts (buzzsaw, my docs, redspark, ...) and create my own.

I see, sorry that I misunderstood the request. I thought you wanted to add stuff not take away the vanilla. I guess I can not help on this one. Good question though.

Hi

Check out the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

ID: TS59342 - Customizing the sidebar palette in the Select File dialog box (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2880817&linkID=2475323)

You might want to check out "iClean.zip" from ManuSoft -

ManuSoft Freebies (http://www.manusoft.com/Software/Freebies/index.stm)

Have a good one, Mike

Have you tried right clicking on them, and then hitting remove?

That only works in 2004 and higher, I believe. The older versions required a program like the one Mike has a link to.

Made the jump from 2000 to 2004, so first I didn't have it, then I did and it worked.

Sorry for the mis-information :)

I just found this on the Manusoft website (http://www.manusoft.com/Software/Freebies/Index.stm) One of the freebies iclean.zip claims to "Remove Buzzsaw, RedSpark, and Point A icons from file dialog 'places' list."

Haven't tried it, so I am not sure how it works, but I think it will do what you want
