Saperate instance Relations

hello to all,
i m working on mdt-6 pp,
can somebody help me for how to break relations between instances.
is it any method to break relations once we form two parts with instances.

The method in MDT is to go to AMCATALOG, select the definition and copy definition ( new name) for the NEW instance. Even though the started out as the same part, the are no longer linked.
