I haven't downloaded a new build since 20030415_1500. I just finished my first Revit project and now I want to get the latest build. I am saving my projects, keyboard shortcuts and patterns in a separate file. The new families I have created are being used in my projects.

1) Am I correct in assuming that any data like families or materials that are being used in a project wont get wiped out?

2) Is there anything else I should save separately?

Thanks

When upgrading from one version of Revit to the next, you really only need to save two files:

revit.ini in the Revit\Program folder
keyboardshortcuts.txt in the Revit\Program folder as well (if I recall)

When Revit is uninstalled, it only removes the executable files - not the content. AFAIK this is it for files you need to save. Your families, texture maps, fill patterns, etc. will all be saved, even if you put them in the Revit folder.

You should also copy your license.txt file if you are reloading on a machine that is not connnected to the internet.
