Hi, everybody.

We have found the problem with arabic language in AutoCAD
and we hope that you could explain this situation.

All problems appear after turning on the arabic font support in operation system.
(After this all arabic characters rearranges from right to left
and specific arabic connection creates from separated characters.)

But AutoCAD can't correct works with such text.

------------------------------
This is the simplest example of the bug:

Turn on arabic language support in "Regional and Language Options".
Open attached DWG that contains arabic multitext.
Just make Zoom In.
When this text can't be placed entirely in AutoCAD workspace viewport
than text displaying begin change.
(I guess it begin shows from left to right with separate arabic characters.)

You can see this bug in three attached raster examples.
The first one demonstrates arabic text before zooming. All is Ok.
The second and the third one - after zooming it.
-----------------------------

The same problems appears when arabic text situated under any bitonal transparent raster image or hatch.

And the other important bug: AutoCAD can't plot properly arabic text.

Could you explain this situation and answer: how can user plot arabic text properly into raster file?

I have found post with the same problem description,
but there wasn't answer on this post:

--- Technical details: ----
OS - Windows XP (Eng)
AutoCAD 2005
Font that support arabic language - TTF "Times New Roman"

Thank you
in advance.

Here are some other issues and solutions for
True Type fonts, perhaps there is a clue in them.

Thank you, mjfarrell, for reply,
but this is not that i need.

The main question is:
DOES AUTOCAD SUPPORT ARABIC TEXT?
If "Yes", than
HOW CAN USER PLOT ARABIC TEXT FROM AUTOCAD DOCUMENT TO RASTER FILE?

I have not any solutions of this problem by this time.

Hi

Tested on -

PC No 1 - AutoCAD 2004 (used to open drawing file and SaveAs 2000 format) + Windows 2000 Pro (Arabic Language Support *not* installed)

PC No 2 - AutoCAD 2002 + Windows 2000 Pro with Arabic Language Support Installed

PC No 1 - I Open drawing file "ArabicFont" within AutoCAD 2004, the Arabic Text Characters are displayed incorrectly - this I would expect as PC No 1 hasn't Arabic Language Support installed. I SaveAs release 2000 Format "ArabicFont_2000".

PC No 2 - I then Open drawing file "ArabicFont_2000" within AutoCAD 2002, the Arabic Text Characters are displayed correctly - this I would expect as PC No 2 has Arabic Language installed.

The Zoom issue/problem I think is just a display issue/problem (easy for me to say as I don't have to work with such drawing files) as when you again Zoom Extents/All the Arabic Text Characters are correctly displayed.

When I Plot "ArabicFont_2000" I get the same results that you describe :(

Have tried Plotting via Windows Drivers and Heidi Drivers to different output devices, results are the same; is like the Text is Mirrored + Separated.

I downloaded an Arabic AutoCAD Font (SHX) to see if that would make any difference, no joy there :( -

ARABIC.SHX (http://www.electrographics.it/inglese/fontautocad.htm)

I found the following that may help (sorry I haven't got the time to test this software utility) -

<snip>
Add Arabic text to your AutoCAD drawings with Arabic Tools for AutoCAD 2000. It includes utilities for text search, editing, exploding, curve-fitting, and export and import of Arabic text. The plug-in also includes VisualSHX, an AutoCAD SHX font editor that runs in AutoCAD itself.

ARBTOOLS.ZIP (1.9MB)

http://www.caddepot.com/dcd1/Autodesk/Text_Editors/ (http://www.caddepot.com/dcd1/Autodesk/Text_Editors/)
</snip>

I created a DWF from "ArabicFont_2000" without any problems, it views and prints correctly (see attached).

To experiment we (Arabic speaking/reading/writing colleague and myself) wrote a little Arabic within MS Word 2000 (English Version) on PC No 2; everything was ok!, typing (input), printing (output).

Is it possible to try and Plot from within AutoCAD on a PC that is running the Arabic Windows Operating System?

Hope the above helps a little, sorry I haven't got anymore time to spend on this presently....

Have a good one, Mike

Thank you, Mike, and all your colleague very much
for these careful tests, highly detailed answer and for paying such an attension to this problem!

We can't test this problem on a PC with Arabic Windows OS right at this moment,
but i shall have post all the results there after their coming.

Best regards,

I’m again in trouble with Arabic Font,

I received a file from a colleague and my machine is not able to read the Arabic font!

All the very common Arabic font are already installed in the Font folder of the AutoCAD

Sample of the file is attached

How this problem can be resolved?
