I just opened a drawing and got the message "...drawing contains authoring elements. Open in block editor?"

It seems like this is a dynamic block that exists in a drawing without actually being a block - if that makes sense. In other words if I open the drawing directly (if i ignore the message) there are no blocks in the drawing. But it can be inserted into another dwg and behave like a dynamic block.

I have created dyn. blocks. But only know how to create them as a 'fully formed' block within the drawing & must insert & explode to get to the actual dyn. block.

How does one do the dyn. block without actually having to have a nested block?

If my questions are not clear, please let me know and i will try to clarify.
