I know there is one that is part of the Migration Tools, but this one requires that the user have 2004 or 2005. I'm looking for something to distribute to users that have 14 and 2000, so that they can convert from 2004 format. Any ideas?

I don't know of anything like that. If these drawings are coming from a customer, you can ask them to save them as R2000 files. I don't think 2005 will saveas R14, I think you need to use the batch converter for those

If they are in house drawings, you can have whoever is creating those drawings set the default save version as 2000. This is under options on the open and save tab.

Don't forget the etransmit tool if they have already closed them. I have mine set that when I choose a bunch of drawings for transmittal it binds the x-refs and saves down to R2000, results of course ending up in a zip file.

The problem is that we have people in Engineering that are running 2005 and all our Project Managers are using 14. I am wondering if there is a Batch Drawing Converter that I can distribute to them.

This batch drawing converter will change drawings from 2005 (or any version) down to 14.

You have to have 2004 or newer for this one to work.

Yes, but, I was assuming that the engineering people are a part of your work group, and so would install this and do this for you? Are they not willing to do that?

You are not going to be able to convert from 2005 to a lower version without having 2005. You have to able to open/read the drawings in 2005 in order to convert them to a older version.

Which goes back to my suggestion - have the people with 2005 either saveas 2000, or have them run the batch convert to convert to 14. I don't think you can do a saveas back as far as 14.

Or upgrade the project managers - even if you upgrade them to LT 2005 they will be able to read the files. How much drafting work do the project managers actually do on the drawings? If they aren't doing much, you can either do that, or look into DWF so they can view them. If they are doing a lot of work on them, you may want to consider having them upgraded to 2005, either LT or the full version. Makes design teams work better if you are all working with the same version

I tried to save 2006 to 2000. The mtext did not come through - it is blank. Does anyone know of an easy fix for this besides exploding the text before converting? Thank you
