Hi AUGI's members.

I search a reason why Autocad cannot open more one drawing for certain users and not at all... and not each time?

The commande (variable) SDI is set to "0" (zero) but if it was at "1", the first "dwg" will be close when other will be select normally, and without Fatal Error... real?

Thanks a lot!!! :^)

Are you opening these drawings from within Autocad, or using windows explorer?

SDI should be set to 0.

What is the fatal error that you are getting?

Type: Integer
Saved in: Registry
Initial value: 0

Controls whether AutoCADruns in single- or multiple-document interface. Helps third-party developers update applications to work smoothly with the AutoCAD multiple-drawing mode.

0 Turns on multiple-drawing interface.

1 Turns off multiple-drawing interface.

2 (Read-only) Multiple-drawing interface is disabled because AutoCADhas loaded an application that does not support multiple drawings. SDI setting 2 is not saved.

3 (Read-only) Multiple-drawing interface is disabled because the user has set SDI to 1 and AutoCAD has loaded an application that does not support multiple drawings. (SDI was set to 1 before the application was loaded.) SDI setting 3 is not saved.

If SDI is set to 3, AutoCAD switches it back to 1 when the application that doesn't support multiple drawings is unloaded.

Hi Stephan

Please note I've *moved* this Topic (Thread) from the AutoCAD Customization Forum (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=118) to this one as I believe it would be better served here.

Thanks, Mike

Hi

You can't as AutoCAD R14 is not an enabled MDE application (AutoCAD 2000 was the first version to be MDE enabled); you can run multiple sessions of AutoCAD R14.

Sorry, I know to my question upside was not enough comprehensive.

We have a users, without apparent reason because the function worked before, to work with 2000i and the multi-session is inactive but more... if they try it, a message "Fatal Error" appear or Autocad close automatically without advise!!!

It's not because SDI is set to 1 (value is really zero).

Is it a probleme of "Profile"?

We have many configurations for us and clients and we work with Autocad since release 10, it's not a first experience with.

This bug is with a second drawing but on others PCs only after 3, 4 or more?

We have a Matrox G550 32Mb for a majority of users, maybe MX440 for others and Windows 2000 (not Service Pack 4).

Do you have another ideas???

Thanks and always "sorry for my english"... :^)

Hi

First things first there is no need for the "sorry for my english" statement.

Does this issue/problem occur for the same User(s) all the time ie Every drawing file they Open?

If yes and there're our other Users that don't experience the same issue/problem then it could well be worth *exporting* a "GOOD" AutoCAD Profile (.ARG) from a User that doesn't experience the issue/problem.

Import + Set Current this "GOOD" AutoCAD Profile into a "BAD" Users AutoCAD session.

Are *all* your installs of AutoCAD 2000i updated with the latest Autodesk Updates & Service Packs -

AutoCAD 2000i Updates & Service Packs from Autodesk (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=2475161#section102)

If no, it may be worth getting them *all* updated.

Have a good one, Mike

I'm wondering if your profiles are loading some other
application that disables the MDE mode thus producing
the error?
If you launch ACAD with the original profile and no LISP
files or additional applications, does the SDI mode remain
set properly (enabled)? If so then you will need to forward
or post your profiles such they can be examined, along with
any LISP files that you are running at start-up.
