Dimension Text Mask?

Two questions: 1) Is there a way to effectively "text mask" a dimension (including the linework)

2) Is there a way to change the extension lines of a dimension to a specific linetype such as "center"?

I think you could place a 3d face over the dimension
element you want to 'mask' and use the hide command.
I don't think so for the dimension linetype.

1. In addition to Michael's above suggestion you could also use a WipeOut Object (both methods have their limitations, main one that applies to both - Dimension Object and Mask are not linked). Just for your info, AutoCAD 2005 has this functionality built in.

2. No. If I remember correctly, there was an item on the old Wish List that dealt with this. You might want to start a new Wish List Item (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57) that addresses this required functionality.

If you are using 2005, change the text fill color to 'background' and it will mask the dimension text.
