I have a drawing that I am using solid hatches to fill in exisiting line work. I would like for the hatch to display below the line work or the line work to display above or in front of the hatch. I have used the display order and chosen either or to try and achieve the desired effect. But, it does not diplay that way on the screen or when I plot the said drawing. Is there a system variable that controls display order or plotting order that I can take a look at.I attached a PDF file and everything looks just the way that I want it to. But it simply will not appear that way on the screen or the plot to paper. I am using ACAD2004 and WindowsXP Pro, plotting to a HP Design Jet 120NR

If you have "sent" the hatch to back and it still overrides in plotting it's generally a "lines merge"/"lines overright" issue. Check your plotter settings.
Is the hatch in a block? If so, then you're moving the whole block forward and back, and might be moving your boundary lines with your hatch. If this is the case, you need to edit the block, and move the hatch to the back in the block definition.

The exisitng line work was just that and not blocks, so it may have been a line merge problem. However, if I change the regions that I want hatch into blocks and then use the multiple hatch patterns with the display order set to achieve the desired effect that corrects the problem. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate the insight and different approaches to solving problems. Drafter2
