Here is a situation I have never seen before. I have a user who will make a copy of an object, in this case a revision triangle, and then he cannot select his copy. He will use the vanilla copy command, select the triangle and number, make a duplicate right next to the original, then try to select the number to change it and the system will not allow him to select the duplicate. What gets even better, he will explode the orginal, and then he cannot select any of the linework of the original. Any help would be appreciated.

I think he is looking at an UNSELECTABLE group
not a block. Look at your PICKSTYLE variable.

Check the layer state of layers 0 and defpoints. They should both be on and thawed.

I had something similar happen to me and the forums helped me by doing this:
Type:
DVIEW
ALL
Enter
POINTS
0,0,0
0,0,1
Enter
This got rid of the ghost entities. Well, it didn't get rid of them, just made them act like entities again.
On a slightly different note....
I'm kinda scatterbrain about how else to type entries on the command line like I tried above. Anyone have suggestions or a proper way of doing that?

you can use the Quote icon if you want or do a screen capture of the text window or just like you did ;)
