Good day,

Let me preface this by saying that I normally do mechanical and architectural designing in paper space. I have little experience in model space plot setups.

We have an application that generates electrical schematics in model space. They are designed to fit on ANSI D size landscape(22 x 34) paper border. I would like to output the schematics to ANSI B landscape(11 x 17) and ANSI A size portrait (8-1/2 x 11)?

I would like to set up a template, or templates if I must, so that I can define page setups with the PLOT AREA set to LIMITS.

LIMITS

Before I experiment, ;) what can I expect when I activate/de-activate LIMITS after defining the corner points of my ANSI D paper size as far as PLOT AREA is concerned? That is, can I still PLOT to LIMITS for the other two reduced paper sizes?
Will PLOTTING to LIMITS necessitate setting up a page setup and setting up LIMITS in a separate template file for each paper size?

Clint, If you are going to have a template for the setups, perhaps you should consider using a layout to plot the drawing anyway. Why? With AutoCAD 2005 and Sheet Set Manager, you will be plotting the sheet from a layout anyway. Also, support for plotting to Limits in 2005, is, well, limited.

It might be better to create a full-size layout for 22x34, and then 3 named page setups, Full, 11x17, and 8.5x11.

You can use DesignCenter to drop the layout in the existing drawings, if need be.

See the attached template that uses just such a setup. Note that the page setups are based on plotting the Layout, not Limits. Also, to plot the reduced plots, you simply select the appropriate page setup at plot time; no need to apply it to the layout.
