Hi and thanks in advance,

I'm relatively new to having a fancy graphics card on my workstation. I want to make sure that I'm using the graphics card to it's full capability. I've got a Nvidia Quatro FX500 graphics card and it comes with a full array of system settings. There's a tab for GL application settings that includes AutoCad as an option. I've selected this.

My question to the forum is:
When under options dialog box, System tab, (Current 3D graphics display) properties box, there is an option at the bottom right for acceleration. It was set on Software as default. When I opted for the hardware option the driver (wopengl8.hdi) was displayed.
Is this setting using my Graphics card options? Or is this just the same as the software option.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,

~Mitch McComb

If you installed the Max Draft drivers for your card
I think Hardware is the best option.
You might want to conduct a benchmark for yourself.
The best time to 'see' the benfits of this card are in shaded
3d-orbit operations, and some of the increased speed with
transparent pans in large complex files.
