View Full Version : Toggle to display only the Wall Core in a view

Summary: Toggle to show core lines only in a view

Description: A core-only switch per view. I wish there was a toggle switch that would enable me to work and print in any desired view with wall core lines only, that would include walls in overlays, out of the cut plane range and unconnected - all visible walls.

How Used: A wall core only tool would speed up my design process and avoid errors from misalignments (structural and dimensional) as well as enable me to produce a set of plans that are consistent with field construction, built from the core out.

Feature Affinity: Walls

This would be great.
We often use the same project file for architectural and structural documents. Since the structural drawings need to only show the wall core, we actually have to place the wall finishes as a separate wall to be able to turn them off.

Good thing I did a search, I was just about to post this wish myself.

This is an absolutely essential feature. I'm surprised Revit doesn't have this already. One of the central tenets of BIM is the variable display of model elements based on the intended purpose of the resulting view. If we are to use compound walls then we need Core Only.

One thought, there is some crossover between Core Only and phases, as well as some possible mixed conditions, like showing only the structural core of an addition while showing all of the of the existing (unchanged) part of a building. So how should Core Only be controlled?

Either way, given the value that this single feature would add to every Revit model, this should be the #1 new feature request.
