If it were developed to be able to link Revit model takeoffs into an excel cost estimate spreadsheet, would you be willing to pay a small fee for the system?

I know there have been full systems developed (Innovaya, etc) for cost estimating, but this would be simply a link of quantities. No cost data or anything like that. Simply link the takeoffs into Excel and put in your own unit costs and determine what non-model elements are necessary, etc.

Once this is linked, it would be updatable as the Revit model is updated.

Are you limiting this to takeffs?
What about the ability to have a method of defining the parameters you want to export from the model and then being able to map to an Excel sheet, once, so there is a predefined 'format' for the exported information to get dumpe dinto next time through..
Then the complex calcs could be handled, and formatted better, in Excel

I'd pay some serious coin for that (especially now that the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US$)

Does not the free Autodesk API Excel example not do this for you? http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=68332

I'll have to look into this more, but not really the same thing.

Maybe I should explain more. This would take the materials and/or objects in an ODBC export from Revit, get the total area/length/volume, whatever, and put it into excel based on CSI division (which would be entered in Revit schedules via the keynote table). It could be put into specific cells in a estimate template...

I would be very much interested in having an ability to 'link' (refresh upon user interaction) selected schedules to .xml files. So much that I'd be willing to pay a hundred bucks out of my own pocket.
In return, I'd write a PHP- or Javascript to link these schedules for various calculations.

Indeed all above mentioned things would be very useful for produtivity reasons. however as and mep designer, i really want to see panel schedules that are able to go into xcel nicely.
